Refuse Collections

Our refuse collection is fortnightly on a Thursday. One part of the Parish being done one week and the other the next.

Jones Services are our Contractors and we are very pleased with the very efficient service which they give to the Parish. By collecting fortnightly we are able to keep refuse costs very low and, at the same time, encourage people to recycle some of their rubbish. Newspapers, glass and aluminium can be recycled at the various ‘bring sites’ around the Parish – there is one at Fairy Hill by the Commissioners Playing Field and paper and glass banks at the green at Croit-e-Caley. Of course, you can also take them to the Amenity Site, along with other recyclables.

It is possible we may participate in ‘kerbside collection of recyclables’ in the future but, being a large rural area, we will have to look into it very carefully to see that it would not cause more pollution that any benefits which may come from recycling. There will be parts of the Parish where it will be possible. Of course, it will all depend upon the Department of Local Government and the Environment being able to deal with and recycle the end-product.

We will keep you all informed of any progress with this.
