Paul Salmon TD VR BEng IEng FIHE MCIHT MInstRE

Asset Manager – Bridges & Structures. Department of Infrastructure

will make a presentation and be available to answer questions.

The topic is about adaptation for climate change and the need to protect against its effects. We are looking at higher sea levels, wave overtopping during storms and the flooding, damage and disruption these can cause and now and in the future as levels increase. In Council of Ministers plan “Agenda for Change” (see link below) there is a commitment to “address the issues posed by the effects of climate change”. The UK Meteorological Office Climate Prediction Data indicates that climate change will cause a rise in sea levels of around 0.65m and increasingly severe storm waves over the next hundred years. The Department for Infrastructure has employed specialist consultants to see how these will affect our harbours and sea fronts. This meeting is a chance to discuss the outline options presented by the study for Shore Road.
